I wanted to share more about myself so you could get to know me better. I was born in a very small town on the Big Island of Hawaii. I loved growing up on an island at a time when you never felt you needed to lock your doors or windows at night. I walked to school every day, played in the neighborhood park, learned to swim in the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean.I really thought I would never leave and aspired to raise my own children in that setting.
But life always has a way of leading you down a different path. I eventually did leave the islands, 4 children in tow and baby number 5 on the way. I was 30 years old and so afraid of the new world I was about to enter. I sound like Christopher Columbus. But, as you can imagine, though the world, (and by world I mean California, because that is where we chose to migrate), seemed such a big scary place, I embraced the possibilities and adventures it had for me and my family. It has been a wild and crazy ride, but I have no regrets.
Besides the move to California, we ventured to Alaska to be a part of growing a church. One of our daughters and her husband were living there at the time and on one of our visits, I fell in love with the vast beauty of the Alaskan Frontier. We were able to buy our first home and lived there for 11 years. The cold winters finally took its toll on me and we left to pursue the next chapter in life and moved to Oregon. We have been here for almost 6 years and love it equally as much as everywhere else God has led us. My children are grown and have families of their own. I am Nana to 14 grandchildren, all of whom I I love to the moon and back. They inspire me to live and love and do everything I can to make their world better.
I have always had a passion for crafting. I love knitting, sewing and working on my paper craft projects. I have a small business I call PaperHugs. I design and create photo albums, keepsake boxes and greeting cards. The creative process of everything I do, including writing in my blog, brings me joy and a sense of well-being. The purpose of my blog is to hopefully inspire and give hope to other women to live their adventures with happy hearts. Aging can be discouraging on many levels, but it does not have to defeat us. We all have gifts and talents we can share, even if it’s a smile or to give someone a hug.
